Crazy Christmas Eve
My family has a tradition that every Christmas Eve we sleep in the same bedroom. I didn't think it would continue when I got married, but much to my surprise it did! We had to do it especially for my brother Garret who is leaving on a mission this month! The only downside to this tradition for me is well...four stinky boys in one bedroom....you get the idea!
Top Five Crazy "Emmy" Moments
Do you ever have those days as a mom that you honestly think you are going to go crazy? I have those a lot lately :)! I believe the temperament of my child resembles that of a puppy! She drools, runs wildly without reason, gets into everything, eats everything (see stories below), and pretty much marks her territory where ever and as frequently as possible! Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore and love her, but I would like to share some of our "crazy" moments! Keep in mind, the moments below occur during "nap"time, or within two seconds of turning my head.
1. Truly I do not understand the attraction that kids have to poop, but apparently my mom says I was the same way. She calls it "Sweet payback" from when I was younger. I personally don't believe it, but say whatever you want Jan! On this sunny day I went to "wake" Em up from a nap. As I approached the door, I learned that she was already awake. I push open the door only to be slapped in the face with the most horrible stench possible! I looked around and found that she had taken off her poopy diaper. She smeared it all over her body, all over her crib, all over the wall, and then launched it on to the carpet. The huge grin on her face almost screamed that she had the time of her life "coloring". The incident is becoming more funny with time, but I still have a few more years to go!
2. I was changing Ems diaper and a million things happened at once. First she spun over, grabbed the already open baby powder, and poured it down her throat. This was one of the scariest moments ever! She couldn't breathe and was beginning to turn blue. I tried helplessly to scoop it out of her mouth and to get her to throw-up so that it would clear the powder and coat her throat with liquid. As she threw-up, she finally caught a gasp of air. SCARY!!!!!!!!!!
3. As many of you know, em loves sand, dirt, rocks, you name it! On this particular day, em was found in the sandbox with her cousins shoving, and I mean shoving handfuls of sand into her mouth as fast as she could. I ran to her and literally had to coax her to spit it out. I didn't know how much sand she had eaten until the second and yes THIRD day after when she was still filling diapers of sand! Lets just say sand doesn't do so well on the bum!
4. Awhile back, we had our home up for sale. It was a crazy time in our lives. One day I had three different appointments to show our house. I had spent ALL DAY cleaning and getting things ready. As the doorbell rang, a series of unfortunate events happened. Em knocked her Ramen noodles off the table, I picked her up so she wouldn't get soaked. As I picked her up, she puked on me. In trying to dodge the puke I knocked off a bottle of cough medicine onto the rug. I wouldn't have answered the door, only the people were looking through the front window at me. So that's how I answered the door. I and my house smelled like Ramen, cough syrup, and puke-DELICIOUS! Needless to say, those people did not buy our house.
5. Em has a reoccurring problem with pooping in the tub. Now honestly, it wouldn't matter what time of day, where she was bathing at, or even if she recently had a stinky diaper, she will poop in the tub. There is nothing worse than finding a surprise in your childs bathtub. The worst was when she was bathing with her cousin Kenzie and she let it go. I tried to blame it on Kenzie, (warning: this next part is gross but part of the story!) but Chels examined closer and said with defiance "Kenz hasn't had corn". SICK! Unfortunately, she found me out and once again I had to bathe Em after her "bath"!
If anyone else has any crazy kid moments, I would love to hear them! It helps me to feel better. I know these moments are relatively mild moments for some, so I would love to hear yours!
